Available AnimalsGarter snakes,  once  considered  soley a beginner's  snake,  are becoming more and more popular as  pets. Garter snakes make great pets, from beginners to even the most advanced   hobbyist.   They   are   small   by colubrid  standards  (rarely exceeding 4 feet in  length),   inquisitive   by   nature,  diurnal, colorful, docile  and  can be fed a varied diet of fish/worms/rodents (see caresheet). They are  easy  to  care  for and do well in  captivity, with an average lifespan of 10 years.

Specialization  in  unusual  patterns  and  color  morphs  is  our  forte. We are currently working with the following species and morphs:

Blue striped garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis similis)

California red sided garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis infernalis)-Normal and hypomelanistic California Red Sided garter snake

Eastern garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis)-Normal eastern garter, albino eastern garter snakes (numerous bloodlines), anerythristic eastern garter snake, axanthic eastern garter snake, erythristic eastern garter snake (numerous bloodlines), flame eastern garter snakes, Florida eastern garter snake, granite eastern garter snake, hypomelanistic eastern garter snake, leucistic (paradox) eastern garter snake, melanistic eastern garter snake, silver eastern garter snake and snow eastern garter snake

Eastern black neck garter snake (Thamnophis cyrtopsis ocellatus)

Mesoamerican Highlands garter snake (Thamnophis fulvus)-a Central American species

Plains garter snake (Thamnophis radix )-Albino Plains garter snakes (Iowa and Nebraska strains), Anerythristic Plains garter snakes (piebald anerythristic), axanthic Plains garter snakes, Christmas albino/super Christmas albino Plains garter snakes, hybino Plains garter snake, normal plains garter snake, quad het plains garter and snow Plains garter snake (Iowa and Nebraska strains)

Puget Sound garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis pickeringi)

Red sided garter snake (thamnophis sirtalis parietalis)-Anerythristic red sided garter snake, albino red sided garter snake (2 strains), Blue redsided garter snake, normal red sided garter snake and golden red side garter snake

Santa Cruz garter snake (Thamnophis atratus atratus)-Single striped morph

Wandering garter snake (Thamnophis elegans vagrans)-Normal, chocolate wandering garter snake and melanistic wandering garter snake

Banded Water snake (Natrix fasciata fasciata)

Albino banded water snake, het albino banded water snake, erythristic banded water snake

Florida water snake (Natrix fasciata pictiventris)
